Fuel surcharge policy for Irish Sea ferries

As you may be aware the price of fuel oil has increased in recent months.

As a result, Norfolkline will increase the fuel surcharge for passengers per single leg from £6/€8 to £8/€10 per adult and £1/ €1 for children (under 16yrs)  for all bookings made to travel as from February 1st 2010.

Norfolkline undertakes a monthly review of the fuel surcharge based on the previous month’s oil prices and exchange rates and this will be published on www.norfolkline.com to ensure all our customers are fully informed of the appropriate fuel surcharge at the earliest opportunity.

It is impossible to predict future fuel surcharges as they are dependent upon the fuel costs and fluctuating exchange rates.

In order to demonstrate full and complete transparency the low sulphur fuel oil prices (LS380) in Rotterdam can be tracked on the following website: www.bunkerworld.com/markets/prices/nl/rtm/

Additionally the US Dollar/Euro and Euro/Pound Sterling exchange rates can be tracked on: www.xe.com

The fuel surcharge is applied at time of booking rather than at the time of travel. This is to avoid the inconvenience that customers would have to settle the incremental fuel surcharge on the day of travel if the fuel surcharge has increased (or receive a refund if the fuel surcharge has decreased).

We hope you can appreciate that this course of action is necessary to ensure that Norfolkline fairly reflects the fluctuating cost of fuel to all of our customers.
