Liverpool Irish FestivalLiverpool Irish Festival celebrates the links between Liverpool and Ireland

The Liverpool Irish Festival core events take place annually in October and November. In Liverpool’s year as European Capital of Culture the 2008 Festival takes place between 17 October and 2 November.

Alongside these dates the Festival runs and supports events and performances throughout the year celebrating Liverpool Irish culture year round.

The Liverpool Irish Festival presents a balance of community, national and international projects and has a wide reach through strong and successful partnerships with arts and cultural organisations in the city.

The Festival programming embraces performance and participation, entertainment and education in one holistic continuum, and explores fresh, distinctive ways of putting Liverpool Irish culture, music and the arts, at the heart of current social and cultural agendas.

All attending the Festival are encouraged to seize the opportunities it offers to be adventurous and inquisitive about the unfamiliar, and to make fresh discoveries in the artforms that they know.

The Festival offers a platform to the city’s own artists and educators, alongside leading national and international artists.

Liverpool Irish Festival is delighted to welcome Norfolkline as it’s Principal Sponsor in 2008 and look forward to celebrating and supporting links between Liverpool and Ireland through this unique partnership.
